A lot has happened since our last blog post. First, we added new recovery services. Then, we earned a Best Fitness Center award. And now, we’re launching a nutrition coaching program. Here’s everything you need to know about what’s new at Peak Fitness SLO in 2026.

It’s been a while since we’ve posted here, and we owe you an update. The truth is, we’ve been busy. Not just keeping the doors open 24/7 — because yes, we still never close. But also, we’ve been building something bigger behind the scenes at Peak Fitness SLO.

New recovery services. Facility upgrades. A certified nutrition coaching program. And a community that just earned us Best Fitness Center on the Central Coast from The Tribune.

So, this post is our way of catching you up. Whether you’ve been a member since day one or you’re just hearing about us for the first time, read on.

Peak Fitness SLO Voted Best Fitness Center on the Central Coast

We’ll start with the one we’re most proud of: earlier this year, the San Luis Obispo community voted Peak Fitness the Best Fitness Center of 2026 in The Tribune’s annual Best of the Central Coast awards.

This wasn’t a marketing campaign. Instead, it was our members showing up and voting because they genuinely believe in what we’re building. From the early-morning lifters here before sunrise to the late-night crew who train after work — this award belongs to every single person who walks through our doors.

Moreover, it tells us something important. People in SLO want more than just a place to work out. They want a gym that feels like their own. One that’s clean, uncrowded, well-equipped, and actually cares about the people inside it.

Ultimately, that’s what Peak has always been about — and it’s what we’re doubling down on in 2026.

What Makes Peak Fitness Different

If you’re not familiar with us, here’s the short version. Peak Fitness is a boutique gym near downtown San Luis Obispo, open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. In addition, secure keycard access means you can train on your schedule — 5 a.m., midnight, Christmas morning, whenever the motivation hits.

But what sets us apart from other gyms in SLO isn’t just the hours. It’s what’s inside.

Strength Training Equipment Built for Real Lifters

Our floor is designed for people who take their training seriously. We carry a full range of free weights, machines, benches, and cable systems. As a result, you’re never waiting for equipment, even during the busiest hours. Furthermore, members consistently tell us that the uncrowded feel and quality of equipment are two of the top reasons they chose Peak over other gyms in San Luis Obispo.

Recovery Suite: Infrared Sauna, Cold Plunge, and Contrast Therapy

In fact, this is our biggest differentiator. It’s also the reason a growing number of people in SLO are finding us — even if they weren’t originally looking for a gym.

  • Full-Spectrum Infrared Sauna — Private room with sessions available in 25-minute or 1-hour formats. Infrared heat penetrates deeper than traditional saunas, supporting detox, cardiovascular health, pain relief, better sleep, and mental clarity.
  • Cold Plunge at 39°F — A temperature-controlled ice bath designed for muscle recovery, inflammation reduction, immune support, and that endorphin rush that turns a rough day around.
  • Contrast Therapy — The combination of infrared sauna and cold plunge in a single 1-hour session. You alternate between heat and cold in cycles, which boosts circulation, speeds recovery, and reduces soreness faster than either modality alone. It’s become one of our most popular services for athletes, weekend warriors, and anyone who wants to feel their best.

For example, if you’re new to contrast therapy, here’s a protocol many of our members follow:

  1. Heat — 10 minutes in the infrared sauna
  2. Cold — 3 minutes in the 39°F plunge
  3. Rest — 3 minutes of recovery
  4. Repeat the cycle 3 times within the hour

Additionally, if you’ve never tried it, we’re currently offering a special intro deal: use code ADDCOLD at checkout to get a free cold plunge session when you book any sauna session.

New in 2026: Nutrition Coaching at Peak Fitness SLO

Here’s something brand new. I’m Erin, one of the co-owners, and I’ve been working toward my nutrition coaching certification over the past year. In 2026, we’re officially adding nutrition coaching to Peak’s services.

Why? Because training is only half the equation. We see it every day — members who are consistent in the gym but frustrated because their nutrition isn’t supporting their goals. For example, it could be figuring out how much protein you need, learning how to fuel workouts without overthinking every meal, or building habits that stick beyond a 30-day challenge. In all of these cases, nutrition coaching bridges that gap.

Importantly, this isn’t about handing you a meal plan and sending you on your way. Instead, it’s a collaborative process built on:

  • Assessment — Understanding where you are now, what you’ve tried before, and what your goals actually look like
  • Macro guidance — Practical recommendations for protein, carbs, and fat based on your body, activity level, and lifestyle
  • Behavior change — Working with you to build sustainable habits, not rigid rules
  • Ongoing support — Regular check-ins and adjustments as your body and goals evolve

So, if this sounds like something you’ve been looking for, keep an eye on our personal training page. Nutrition coaching details are coming soon. In the meantime, you can always reach out to us at hello@PeakFitnessSLO.com to get on the list.
